Shutter speed is responsible for creating dramatic effects by either freezing action or blurring motion. Shutter speed is also known as "exposure time" it stands for the amount of time a camera shutter is open to expose light into the camera sensor. High shutter speeds freeze action, while low shutter speeds create an effect of motion. Motion can also be frozen to a certain point with camera flash, even at low shutter speeds.
